We pick this up every year and it’s something I really look forward to as one of our holiday traditions. I am kind of disappointed with the overall lackluster presentation compared to previous years.
In previous years, they came in little tins that fit into boxes. They used to be a real work of art, with a super-heavy construction. They could easily be a centerpiece or left out for display. You could tell David’s tea used to put a lot of work and thought into its design. The first photo is from this year and the two other photos are from previous years. You can really see the difference.
The design, with the bags inside the boxes, does not work very well. The bags are slightly too big for the boxes, and they press against the inside, causing a slight deformation. Those boxes then fit into the slats inside the calendar, but the material is too flimsy, so the boxes either point slightly down or up and don't really want to stay in place. The overall effect looks forgettable and throw away.
This year, we will definitely be placing it in the tea cubby instead of on the fireplace mantel.I am sure the tea will be amazing as always. I am just a little disappointed in the execution.
Definitely a recession indicator how lacklustre the presentation is in comparison to other years. Usually the tin with the loose leaf tea was enough to brew a full pot for the family, it was great. The single tea bag replacements seem a lot less thoughtful and fulfilling, especially for the price.
I buy 3 advent calendars every year for my 2 daughters and I. We FaceTime everyday in December while we drink our tea. I love this time of year and really enjoy spending it with my kids….a great way to connect with family
Love the advent calendar. My granddaughter has a cup of tea or matcha every night when she comes home from work. She is going to be thrilled with this.
Smells amazing! Exactly like a cinnamon heart candy! However it’s surprisingly light in flavour once brewed. Either needs to be steeped much longer or with a lot more loose leaf tea. Despite all that it’s a lovely spice-full (not spicy as in peppers/capsicums hot, but full of various spices) cup of tea.
My David's tea calendar arrived this week and it looks lovely and the box is sturdy and good quality. It smells divine and I almost wish I could dig into it myself instead of giving it away as a gift.
