Environment

We choose ecologically and socially responsible sources for our tea, prioritizing Fair Trade Certified™ and organic & natural ingredients, as well as recyclable & compostable packaging.

  • Ethical & Sustainable Tea Sourcing

    From tea workers to farmers and their families, we want everyone involved to benefit from safe, fair and equal working conditions.

  • Recyclable & Compostable Packaging

    We’ve worked hard to reduce waste by prioritizing recyclable materials, reducing plastic and introducing compostable packaging when possible.

  • Clean Water

    We launched the Nepal Clean Water Project in partnership with Jun Chiyabari tea garden. Since March 2022, we’ve donated 1% of proceeds of Organic Nepal Black to support the installation of sustainable water filtration systems in Nepal.

  • Less Waste

    We aim to leaf nothing behind. So, whenever possible (and without compromising the freshness & integrity of our tea), we prioritize the use of compostable packaging materials. Loose Leaf Teas Did you know? All loose leaf teas are fully compostable, so you can feel free to drop them right into your compost bins! Sachets Our sachets are made from plastic-free, plant-based and biodegradable PLA (Soilon®) mesh—the tea industry’s most environmentally responsible sachet to date!

Our communi-tea means everything to us, and we make a point to support give-back initiatives as well as causes that uphold the principles of diversity & inclusion.

  • Over 2 Million Cups Donated

    Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, we’ve donated 2 million cups of tea to hardworking frontline heroes, including healthcare workers, educators, first responders and beyond, across the continent. Every purchase makes a difference and helps us reach our next goal of 3 million.

  • DAVIDsTEA Impact Fund

    In November 2020, we launched the DAVIDsTEA Impact Fund, which contributes to our local & global give-back initiatives like our Nepal Clean Water Project, an initiative to support the installation of sustainable water filtration systems in Nepal.

  • Tea Horse

    Hand-in-hand with Tea Horse, a woman-led, Indigenous-owned tea company, we developed a Manoomin Collection, featuring two teas blended with manoomin (meaning “wild rice” in Ojibwe) that’s harvested in the lakes of Northern Canada, and a Manoomin Nordic Mug. 10% of proceeds go towards supporting the Native Women’s Association of Canada‘s (NWAC).
